I’ve added a number of the leftover screen prints to the store, £11 shipped anywhere in the UK. (http://jamesmartin.bigcartel.com/product/rainfall)
Apologies for the lack of blog updates, I’ll be posting some new work in the very near future. Thanks for sticking around, if you’re still here. You can also join me on twitter if you don’t already.
This past week I produced a new batch of hand pulled screen prints, which will be available tomorrow from 12-6pm at Handmade & Bound St Brides, London. There was some really great work there last year, so if you’re in London please come down and have a look. I see there’s also going to be printing workshops happening, as well as a downstairs bar.
The print is one colour on acid free, 100% recycled stock, and measures approximately 11.5x11.5”. Only 20 available (signed & numbered) and won’t be reprinted, anything that doesn’t sell tomorrow may possibly make it’s way online at some point. If not then anyone close to me can know what to expect in the way of Christmas presents.
New Work: Dog Day Afternoon

“You don’t understand the things I did and said, but I’m me, and I’m different.”
I was recently invited to take part in an art exhibition in honour of the late American film maker Sidney Lumet. Curated by Jay Shaw & John Vogl, 17 artists have produced screen printed posters based on the director’s filmography, which will be exhibited in Denver, CO on Friday September 9th.
Mine is based on the 70’s classic Dog Day Afternoon, in which Al Pacino & John Cazale star as unsuccessful bank robbers in New York. I remember first seeing this film back in school a number of years ago, so it was very cool to be able to revisit it and produce some art. The poster focuses on Pacino’s character Sonny, starring out of the bank’s front doors, weighing up his options. This film has a very limited setting, with a small number of characters, so I wanted to keep the poster relatively simple & character based, but with a strong mood. I tried out a lot of new techniques with this one, some worked well & some didn’t, but I learned a whole lot regardless. Thoroughly enjoyed doing it, hopefully there’ll be more opportunities like this one in the future.
The print is a 4 colour screen print, numbered in a small edition of 35 and will cost $30. All artists posters will be available to buy first at the show, with anything left over available online in the Kingdom of Nonsense store on September 10th.
Check out the poster for ‘The Machines are Winning - A Tribute to Sidney Lumet’.
New work: &U&I

Here’s a peek at the new shirt designs I did for &U&I. I believe these will be available as a black print on both white and grey shirts, keep your eyes on their store in the next few days for purchasing info.
